It’s the end of October, which means we’ve all had time to get our hands on a copy of Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. And if you’re anything like us, then you waited approximately zero seconds before reading the whole thing. We’ve been itching to learn more about Simon, Baz, Penny, Agatha and the others since they were first introduced in Rowell’s bestselling Fangirl,. It’s like Carry On came into being especially for us!
We’re pretty confident then that we have a LOT in common with the characters in Carry On – we know that they’re smart, powerful, funny and just a little bit gorgeous (inside and out, we’re not totally shallow). But which one are we most like? Which one are you most like? We’ve devised a handy quiz to help you find out. Make a note of which answers you select, and we'll tell you below what it means if you got mostly a's, b's, c's or d's.
Which Carry On character are you?
1. What kind of student do you think you’d be at Watford School of Magicks?
a. One that stands out from the crowd – whether you like it or not.
b. The ‘ready for anything’ kind – bring it on!
c. Independent and perhaps a bit standoffish
d. The ‘jack of all trades’ (also known as being brilliant at everything!)
2. What would you say other people define you by?
a. Your history – people sometimes think they know more about you than you do
b. Your attitude -- they think you're rude, but you're too busy fixing everything to care.
c. Your looks – unfortunately
d. Your family – status is important in this world
3. You find yourself in a situation that could prove perilous. Do you:
a. Go in all guns blazing. It’s instinctive for you to face danger head on.
b. Walk boldly forward – just as soon as you’ve worked out your strategy. You like to stay at least one step ahead of every threat.
c. Remove yourself from the situation. There’s no point in engaging and making things worse.
d. Fall back and find a good place to observe. You’re playing a long game here; it’s foolish to show your cards too soon.
4. If you could cast spells, what skills would you give yourself?
a. Being better with words. Then it would be easier when learning to cast more spells.
b. Maybe a spell that gives the people around you sharper skills – so they can keep up with you.
c. The ability to escape reality sometimes – it’d be nice to focus on your own thoughts more often
d. You already have all the skills you need. You were born for this.
5. What do you like to do in your spare time?
a. Eat, drink and be around people.
b. Spare time? Unlikely – there’s so much to be getting on with!
c. Get outside – horseriding, being by the ocean, embracing nature.
d. Be creative – play instruments, paint, write.
6. How do you feel about scones?
a. GREAT. The more the merrier, with loads of butter. It’s important to keep your strength up when you’re a mage.
b. They’re good. But anything gets boring when you have it every day.
c. They’re okay. Generally speaking, it’s not often I get a chance to eat one before they’re snapped up elsewhere.
d. They're fine, but I prefer a steak. No, not a stake -- a steak! Rare, if you please.
Mostly A’s – You’re SIMON SNOW
That’s right, you’re Simon Snow. The Chosen One. Congratulations – your life just got a whole lot more complicated. You probably find yourself without much time to spare- there’s always something to keep you on your toes, whether it’s being constantly intercepted by your many friends, getting dragged into epic quests, or the tomes of schoolwork and real life learning to be done. It’s not easy being Simon Snow – but the good news is you’re honest, you’re sincere and you’re going to change the world. And we’ll be right behind you while you do.
Mostly B’s – You’re PENELOPE BUNCE
The most adventurous of the gang, being like Penelope Bunce means you’re always right in the thick of the action. Penny is fierce, strong minded and smart, so you probably find yourself leading the way most of the time when it comes to challenging situations. Make that all situations. Your friends often rely on you to keep things in line, and you wouldn’t have it any other way, as long as there’s still time to read the odd book, and spend time with your family.
Mostly C’s – You’re AGATHA WELLBELOVE
Agatha Wellbelove is often considered one of those most beautiful students at Watford School of Magicks. However, if you’re most like Agatha, you probably would rather be off radar than on. Being sociable doesn’t always come easily, and it’s quite possible you are often misunderstood by your peers. You’re careful, intelligent and happy to take a backseat – you ‘re at your happiest out of trouble, with the simpler things in life around you.
Mostly D’s – You’re TYRANNUS BASILTON PITCH aka BAZ
Congratulations! You’re the smartest, sexiest, most prestigious student at Watford. Nay –beyond Watford! At least, that’s what Baz would say. Being like Baz means a lot of things – you’re confident, incredibly smart and it’s possible that you’ve experienced many of the great things that the world has to offer thanks to a good standing in life. However, you’re not ungrateful for it – any new knowledge or experience is gratefully received. You’re outspoken, self aware, and you might get into trouble for it now and again – but usually only because you’re defending something you feel strongly about.
