YALC Preview Post - Meet Our Authors!

In less than two months we get to celebrate YALC as part of the London Comic Con again on 17th-19th July – and we can’t wait!

YALC was launched in 2014, and was the largest public literature convention dedicated to teen and Young Adult books to be hosted in the UK. It was a complete hit, filled with amazing authors and fantastic panels and seminars - no wonder it's back again this year!

And we're taking some of our authors along with us! We are delighted to confirm the authors joining a selection of YALC panels in 2015 will be… wait for it…

Headliner of the weekend and very special guest will be the fabulous and iconic Judy Blume! She will mark the 40th anniversary of her timeless novel Forever with an interview with Children’s author Patrick Ness. There will be a chance for all you Judy fans to send in questions for her to answer in this special interview, so watch this space!

We will also be joined by the fantastic Virginia Bergin, the author of the breakthrough YA hit of 2014, The Rain and sequel The Storm which published in February. These books are a thrilling and addictive journey, so we can't wait to see what Virginia comes up with on her YALC panel!

Award-winning author Frances Hardinge will also be in attendance. As Patrick Ness has said, Frances is an utterly original writer, so we can't wait to hear what she has to say at YALC, especially regarding her thrilling, dark and deliciously creepy books Cuckoo Song and newly published The Lie Tree.

Kevin Brooks is the acclaimed, prize-winning author of eleven books for young adults, including our pacy, addictive and total page-turning Travis Delaney Investigates series. We can't keep up Kevin's nominations in 2015 - he's already tallied up six awards shortlist. No wonder YALC snapped him up!

And last but not least, we'll also be taking along Julia Bell, author two YA novels: Massive and Dirty. Julia is also the co-founder of the Creative Writing MA at Birkbeck University, so she'll have lots of interesting thoughts about YA titles - especially her evocative and addictive new LGBT novel The Dark Light.

So there you have it - I'm sure you are all now just as excited as we are!  We have five very different, incredibly talent authors joining us for what is set to be a thrilling year at YALC, and we're already counting down the days!
